UXPA Kansas City (UXPA KC) is a local chapter of the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA). We’re a volunteer-run organization with the goal of providing educational and networking events for professionals passionate about user experience (UX), user-centered design, usability, accessibility, and human factors.
What do we do?
We host monthly events – including speakers and panels geared for senior practitioners as well as social events and design films – to engage a wide range of interests. We offer an informal and fun way to learn and network with entrepreneurs and our local UX community over light refreshments and kick back with your peers, find a job, or meet a new client.
What are our goals?
- Foster a local community of practicing UX professionals through knowledge-sharing and networking;
- Share industry best practices on user experience, user-centered design, usability, and more;
- Facilitate professional development and education within the UX field; and
- Promote the value of UX, research, design, and evaluation to business and other entities.
In addition, the community will also focus on actively participating in enhancing Kansas City through relationships and activities with various organizations and companies throughout the city (e.g., collaborate with non-profits, scholarships, etc.).
Where do we meet?
We use a variety of locations around the Kansas City area and are always open to additional locations and companies to host.
Are there dues?
At this time, we do not charge local chapter dues, although a minimal event fee of $5 is common in order to cover operational expenses. We depend on and encourage the participate of our local UX community to chose topics, provide meeting locations, and take part in lively discussions. Join our mailing list today.
Do you have to join the parent organization of UXPA?
While you don’t have to join the parent organization of UXPA to attend our events, we encourage it for all of the additional benefits. UXPA membership also allows you to vote in our chapter elections and the opportunity to become a Board or Committee member.
Who are our members?
Our members are people whose jobs and/or interests are the design and optimization of product user interfaces and website user experiences. These professionals work for a variety of start-ups, small businesses, companies, and organizations. Including job titles such as:
