Nick Mosher

Director of Communications

Nick Mosher works as a User Experience Designer for the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family doctors. Outside of his work at the AAFP, he runs a web design businesses: Eternal Second Designs, a local company specializing in portfolios and small business websites. He also enjoys automation and started his own open source project AutomateYourLife.org to provide tips for solving life’s problems with current technology instead of through buying the next complete home automation kit.

Lauren Bock

Director of Outreach

Lauren is an Interaction Designer on the User Experience team at Cerner Corporation. She loves solving difficult problems through research and design. She strives to create experiences and products that improve the lives of users, particularly in healthcare. After graduating from the University of Kansas Industrial Design program in 2013, Lauren worked in digital and physical product design as a User Experience Designer at Bayer HealthCare Diabetes Care in Tarrytown, NY. Since relocating back to her hometown of Kansas this past spring, Lauren has enjoyed cheering on KC sports teams and exploring new parts of the city. In her free time, Lauren likes to run, play intramural sports, and bake pastries.

Sarah Lanzer

Sarah Lanzer

Director of Events

Sarah Lanzer majored in Industrial Design and focused in entrepreneurship at the University of Kansas. After interning for Garmin as a User Experience Design Intern, she went on to an Interaction design role at Cerner. She is currently a Senior Experience designer at VML. During this time she started pursuing her love for creative facilitation by creating and leading design challenges and workshops. She has helped design and facilitate over 6 workshops and challenges and continues pushing design learning and collaboration. She enjoys bring creatives together and has formed networking chapters in Kansas City such as ‘Ladies, Wine and Design’ a women’s monthly design chat.

Angela Jones

Angela Jones

Director of Operations

Angela is a well seasoned user experience professional whose expertise lies in building relationships, leading service and experience design strategies, generative and summative research as well as interaction design. Over 15 years in the user experience field working in both client and agency side capacities. Angela has a significant background in product and account management. Angela currently leads the UX team at the Kansas City branch of The Nerdery and is loving it. In her spare time she is a mother, a lover of animals, music, yoga and great food experiences.

Mel Hogan

Director of Sponsorships

Mel Hogan is Director of UX at C2FO.com. Never a slave to a product, Mel has produced solutions using a wide range of web technologies, including ASP.net, Java, PHP, WordPress, Ektron, Flash, Silverlight, .Net MVC, Razor, and others.



Mel has worked with clients in several sectors, including travel, automotive, medical, consumer web application design, and mass media. His client experience includes Yahoo.com, Ford Motor Company, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, MSNBC, 3M, and Garfield.com, to name a few. Mel has garnered numerous awards for his work including 3 Gold Addys, 4 Webby awards, and several HSMAI (Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International) Awards.



Mel received his BFA from The Kansas City Art Institute, one of the top independent art universities in the U.S.. Mel has also been one of the few Adjunct instructors asked to teach at KCAI without first receiving his Masters, and taught a successful Branding and Identity class in 2008.




When he’s not designing, Mel volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Kansas City, and is working on a self-published comic book with his wife Kathryn.
